Anyone who judges someone by their appearance I wouldn't want to know anyway.
Some of the littlest weasels I've ever come across look very "respectable" and some of the nicest people I know would be classed as nut cases from how they look.

I only have two small tattoos, both done when I was 17 and drunk, (sorry, I mean 18 officer!)
First one was a small swallow bird in flight (symbol of hope and freedom) on my forearm.
Second one was an even smaller heart tattoo on my other forearm, only got the second one to "balance up" the first one, as I thought it looked odd with just one tattoo!
Have never wanted another one since, it bloody hurts! Lol....

Where I used to work, they were talking about banning tattoos, (few years back). Not sure how you can ban them, when people already have them, but hey, lets not let practicalities get in the way...!
My manager complained to senior management saying you can't do that, I'll lose my Surveyor! (Me), plus how does having a tattoo affect your ability to do a job?
Didn't happen in the end anyway, but it was good of her to stick up for me.
Thats the only negative I've ever experienced personally regarding tattoos.
I know plenty of people who have tattoos, including family and friends, can't see why some folks get so annoyed about them.

It really doesn't take much to annoy some people.

Looks good. Some of the tattoo artists these days are really talented.
I only have my arms done which is nothing by today's standards.
The Japanese stuff I really like.

Always fancied getting one but could never decide on what to get as your are pretty much stuck with it for life unless you go down the laser removal but it does not remove it all and the only other option's I know of is having it cut out or dermabrasion .
If I did get one it would only be visible when I wanted it to be visible so it kind of makes it pointless in my eyes .
My wife has a purple butterfly on her forearm as she has Fibromyalgia . She was planning to get another on her wrist with the lasts words my mum spoke to her before passing away Be happy was what she said .
My brother's have a few each . One has our families( my dads side and my mothers ) clan badges on his chest . I can't remember if they are just outlines or coloured .
Macleod
Innes
He has a few others like an evil clown (not sure why ,his choice ) .
My other brother has a number of them but I have not seen many of them .

That's the reason some folks get tattoos, to prove they're tough. I'd like to wish a few kidney stones on them. We'll see how tough they are.
It must be different in the UK, in regards to tattoos. Most folks I know, who have lots of tattoos, are convicted felons. I have nothing in common with them, so there's no point in finding out.

We have a long tradition of tattoos in the UK, lots of military folk have them, especially the Navy, so its not automatically looked on as an ex con type of thing. Although plenty of ex cons have them too!
Nowadays in the UK, its also a "fashion" or "statement" thing, where people have them to be different, or to look a certain way, or sometimes they get one just to p*ss off their parents. Theres an EMO and Goth culture in the UK too, where a lot of young folk wear black, listen to a certain type of music, and also often have tattoos.
One of my Brothers has both arms completely tattoo'd and every one has a different meaning, relating to our parents, his kids, his wife, etc.
I would say years ago it was sort of looked down upon, and mainly a working class thing, Many celebs, sports stars, film stars, etc openly have tattoos now too. Its now much more accepted and normal.
So there's a varied group of peeps who have them here and for many reasons.

i never understood the colouring book style of most tattoos. ive designed a couple of tattoos for mates, but after they've been done they had that outline again in blue/green black, that wasnt on my design. i suppose the tattooist added it so he could trace the image easier, but? i suppose it makes it look like a tattoo?

I do not have any tat's , I have no problem with people who do, Everyone has the choice
As said some of the people who do the tattoo's are proper artists , The crew at London ink for example
I much prefer the std black with lots of shading they look very professional , I also enjoy watching Tattoo fixers
It's amazing what drunk people have done when on holiday out on a bender

I have 3. All can be covered up easily. All when I was under 20. None have any meaning to me. If I could go back, I wouldn't have had them. Waste of money in my opinion. Seems like everyone has them now, and personally, a good looking woman, covered with sleeves and the equivelant on the legs, it's really an off-putter for me. Same goes for face metal. Each to their own though.

Granted most of mine were drunk mistakes, but I wouldn't change them. The only reason I have never had more is because the places I want them would compromise my business
